Google Docs adds OCR for PDFs and images
Google has silently introduced a new option on Google Docs, to convert PDF’s and images to Google Docs Documents using OCR or Optical Character Recognition technology, so that these documents can be edited and re-formated accordingly.

Google also added a note, “This document contains text automatically extracted from a PDF or image file. Formatting may have been lost and not all text may have been recognized.”
